October 2024 General Conference Review

By Becky Squire

One of my very favorites weekends has once again come and gone. I learned so much from our prophet and leaders of the church during this most recent General Conference and I'm sure you did too. Whether you watched it live or not, here is a recap of all of the talks!

Saturday Morning

Elder Andersen - Hope is a living gift, a gift that grows as we increase our faith in Jesus Christ.

President Freeman - Learn how priesthood ordinances and covenant promises will allow God’s power to flow into your life with greater efficacy, working in and through you, empowering and equipping you to reach your full purpose and potential.

Elder Hirst - Being loved is definitely not the same as feeling loved.

Elder Renlund - Without His Church, there is no authority, no preaching of revealed truths in His name, no ordinances or covenants, no manifestation of the power of godliness, no transformation into who God wants us to become, and God’s plan for His children is set at naught. The Church in this dispensation is integral to His plan.

Elder Homer - God trusts us to make many important decisions, and in all matters He asks us to trust Him.

Elder Casillas - Jesus Christ is always calling upon us, and He uses us, His ordinary servants, to help bring His children to Him.

President Oaks - We need to love and do good to all. We need to avoid contention and be peacemakers in all our communications.

Saturday Afternoon

Elder Christofferson - May we bury—very, very deep—any element of rebellion against God in our lives and replace it with a willing heart and a willing mind.

Elder Teixeira - As we remain bonded to the Lord, our lives will naturally reflect His light, and we will become the salt of the earth.

Elder Villar - As we reach out to Him in faith, He will always be there, and in His time, He will be ready and willing to grasp our hands and pull us up to a safe place.

Elder Kearon - Because of the redeeming life and mission of our Saviour, Jesus Christ, we can—and should—be the most joyful people on earth!

Elder Buckner - The Savior’s declaration “ye are my friends” is a clarion call to build higher and holier relationships among all of God’s children.

Elder Goury - Daily repentance allows us to discern the guidance of the Lord through the Holy Ghost.

Elder Cavalcante - We can help others progress in their journey to receive God’s blessings.

Elder Soares - What works for Thee, works for me.

Saturday Evening

Elder Gong - Holiness to the Lord makes daily living sacred. It draws us closer and happier to the Lord and each other.

Sister Yee - Jesus Christ’s love and power can save each of us from our mistakes, weaknesses, and sins and help us to become something more.

Elder McKay - Joseph Smith was “blessed to open the last dispensation,” and we are blessed that he did.

Elder Alvarado - Let us not wait for things to get hard before turning to God. Let us not wait until the end of our mortal lives to truly repent.

Elder Bednar - If we are not faithful and obedient, we can transform the God-given blessing of prosperity into a prideful curse that diverts and distracts us.

Sunday Morning

President Holland - Christ’s charity—evident in complete loyalty to divine will—persisted and continues to persist.

Sister Browning - Our sincere gospel questions can provide Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ with opportunities to help us grow.

Elder Hales - Despite the challenges we all face, our loving Heavenly Father has designed the plan of happiness such that we are not destined to fail.

Elder Budge - If Jesus Christ sought quiet time to commune with God and to be strengthened by Him, it would be wise for us to do the same.

Elder Stevenson - Upcoming moments will provide members of the Church everywhere with increased opportunities to share the glad tidings of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Brother Wilcox - You’ve got this because Jesus Christ has got you!

President Eyring - You can know that you have done all that you can to help those you love and those you pray for navigate through Satan’s attempt to derail them.

Sunday Afternoon

Elder Uchtdorf - When it comes to nourishing our testimonies of Jesus Christ, I wonder if we sometimes mistake the branches for the roots.

Elder Wada - Knowing this incredible plan will help us know we are children of God and we can become like Him.

Elder Rasband - We hold up the Lord’s light when we hold fast to our covenants and when we support our living prophet.

Elder Cook - We cannot underestimate the significance of sacred scriptures both in conversions and in remaining faithful in the gospel.

Elder Alliaud - We truly believe that we are all literally the children of God, and because of that, we have the potential to become like Him.

Elder Egbo - When we ignore the distractions of the world and focus on Christ and His gospel, we are guaranteed success.

President Nelson -  Every sincere seeker of Jesus Christ will find Him in the temple. You will feel His mercy. You will find answers to your most vexing questions. You will better comprehend the joy of His gospel.
