Idaho Falls Temple on Mount Borah
The Mountain of the Lord Temple series.
I wanted to make our current temple designs more special, representing more to those who receive them. Throughout my life I've climbed a few mountains, including the Teton Mountain Range. The hike up these majestic mountains is difficult but once on top, the view is spectacular. In a way, you have a glimpse into the perspective of our Heavenly Father, to see the land below stretching out for as far as you can see.
When standing upon that elevated ground, everything seems to be at peace. I can see why the prophets of old chose to represent the temple as a mountain top. The journey to the temple, like climbing a mountain, requires a steady pace. It may have switch backs and missteps, and it requires a determination to press forward.
Isaiah saw the temples of the latter days and explained them as follows:
📖Isaiah 2:2-3
2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.
3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
The temple is placed on top of Mount Borah in this print to capture the symbolism of Isaiah's words.
The temple is in two sizes:
Medium: 5 inch diameter base
Large: 7 inch diameter base
Extra Large: 10 inch diameter base
